MADx supports the new “Initiative Allergiescreening Deutschland”
"All children should have the chance to be screened for allergies at an early stage."
As experts in in-vitro multiplex allergy diagnostics and manufacturers of ELISA-based allergy tests, we would like to promote and raise awareness of the topic of early detection of allergies in childhood. We see the initiative as extremely valuable, and as a partner from the very beginning, we have therefore agreed to support the initiative financially and ideally. It is important to us that all children have the chance to be screened for allergies at an early age. Therefore, standardised allergy screenings should be included in the preventive medical check-ups for children and adolescents ("Gelbes Heft").
An increase in allergic diseases can be observed worldwide. Currently, more than 20% of children and 30% of adults develop allergies in the course of their lives. The frequency of allergic diseases has increased significantly in the last decades - a development that shows how important the early detection of allergies is.
Since allergies mean a considerable loss of quality of life for those affected and are associated with high costs for the healthcare system, the "Initiative Allergiescreening Deutschland" was founded. The aim of the initiative is the early detection of allergic diseases or of children with an increased risk of allergic diseases. This way, an allergy can be diagnosed at an early stage, a therapy can be initiated and children can be optimally supported through an allergy.
Scientifically, the initiative is led by Prof. Dr. Christian Vogelberg as well as Prof. Dr. Eckhard Hamelmann and the German Society for Allergology and Clinical Immunology and the Society for Paediatric Allergology and Environmental Medicine.
The initiative is driven by admedicum, a company dedicated to so-called "patient engagement". Thus, scientific and medical experts for the scientific foundation of the project are brought together with patient organisations and health insurance companies to work out ways of implementation.
